Community Outreach

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

Community Outreach

Our paralegal team has mobilized the community in community forums where they taught the participants how to know, use and shape the law. In these forums, our paralegals prioritize on how the community can join together to fight for their civic rights especially on citizenship documentation and to create a community movement. In Wajir, citizenship documentation has collapsed or almost on the brink of falling apart.

Our advocay programs entail mobile Identification, mobile birth regisration

Paralegal Programs

Our team has reached out to some government offices such as the Birth and Death Registration Office and that of the County Co-ordinator. The Birth & death Registration office has a newly transferred Registrar who is willing to work with us on the issues of birth and death. We so far made some phone calls with him to help us in understanding some cases and he offered us his help even though, some answers were not to our satisfactory.

Citizenship Paralegal Program

“Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy, and sustainable human development.”

Legal Education to Citizenship

Clients are recruited through aggressive door to door outreaches and also at the organization office. They speak about their acceptability within the community. This indicates most of the time, birth certificates cases are available while getting and handling ID cases are minimal due to the fact that ID exercise in Wajir is very partial and only take place either in far villages outside Wajir or the Chief and other officials keeps on jotting down list of people who will need the ID of which will take long time because people do not appear in large number to get the documents as their pastoralist nature and the continuous drought affect their nomadic lifestyle. This does not mean that everyone has the ID card but circumstances like losing hope and lack of confidence makes people to diminish their hunger for the document.
